5 Tips for An Outstanding Website

An outstanding website will let people know where you stand in the business world in terms of your technological prowess. A good website increases traffic, which then leads to a good conversion rate (i.e. people purchasing your product; converting website visitors into paying customers). In order to avoid a high “bounce rate,” which is where people visit your site and then leave it without going further into the site, you need to make sure that your website is outstanding and separate from your competition. There are a lot of businesses online, and it takes time and effort to be the best of the best. We’ll give you five tips to an outstanding website below:

#1: Make sure it is designed well—professional, yet not intimidatingly-so.

Designing your website is a chance to express your business’s mission through the use of creativity. A beautifully-designed site will make a good first impression on people, and they will be enticed to stick around. If your site is subpar, that reflects poorly onto your business. Image isn’t everything, but in this case, it makes a major difference in how people see your company. Your splash page should also be attractive. The splash page is the page that promotes your business, service, or product, and it usually tells the viewer whether or not they will need any special software in order to access the site.

#2: Make sure it is easy-to-use.

Make sure to test your website out on the average person (i.e. someone who isn’t a tech whiz). You want to make sure that the average person can easily find what they’re looking for. No one wants to spend time being frustrated and combing through the site. You want to ensure that the user experience is hassle-free.

#3: Don’t make it all about the product.

Obviously, you want to make the sale. But your website shouldn’t be totally about the product. The majority of it should showcase what you have to offer, of course, but you should also not be afraid to let your audience know a little more about you. You can do this through including an “About” page with a personal message from you, letting your visitors know more about the origin of the business and its mission. Also, starting a blog or publication associated with your industry will attract more visitors who have questions that don’t specifically pertain to your business, but could, given more time. Creating valuable content and posting it will affirm your status as an authority in your industry.

#4: Personalize your site based on data about your target audience.

Personalization is key, and in order to achieve that, you need data about your audience. You need to know who your business is attracting in order to tailor the website to them. People love personalization and feeling special, and your website (and blog) should reflect at least some cues that point towards your target audience.

#5: Make it mobile-friendly.

The time that people spend on their mobile phones on a daily basis is astronomical. We all look at our phones many times per day, and a smartphone is a convenient way to access information in a setting where pulling out our laptop will be too clunky. Making your website mobile- and smartphone-friendly will help capitalize on this.

In order to increase site traffic, your website has to be able to stand out from the crowd. You could have the best product or service in the world, but if your website is not helpful or attractive, you won’t do as well as you could. This is why it is important to design your website professionally and beautifully.
